Theme: Kotahitanga, inclusion, relationships and pathways
WACEA (Waitakere Adult and Community Education Aotearoa) hosted a professional development hui on Friday 19th July. It was open to all adult educators in the Auckland region and held at the Kelston Community Centre – a day of speakers, workshops and an innovation showcase for all ACE providers across Auckland. It was a great success, with much praise for all the speakers and presenters, and attendees expressed strong interest in it being a regular event.
Speakers included Alison Sutton from COMET on the subject of Growing thinkers, talkers and readers and Colin McGregor from ACE Aotearoa giving an ACE Sector update. Lee Hickey from WEST showcased their programme Being Financially Fit. There were 3 concurrent morning workshops and 3 concurrent afternoon ones. Topics included Strategies for personal strength amidst stress and uncertainty, Making the most of teaching and learning in a digital world, Engaging Pasifika learners, From pretty-dodgy to better-gogy: improving teaching quality in the ACE Sector, and Tikanga Maori.
